Cheesecake and Presentation of New Officers
Eighteen people gathered at the Cheesecake Factory in Skokie, Ill., on Tuesday, Nov. 18, for the Annual Meeting and networking event hosted by the Greater Chicago Area Chapter (GCAC) of the American Medical Writers Association.
Attendees learned about GCAC chapter activities and ways to get involved in the organization while sampling a variety of cheesecakes including the Factory’s signature delicacy with strawberries and decadent desserts such as those made of Godiva chocolate.
The meet-and-greet event provided an opportunity to get acquainted with the 2007 GCAC board members who each addressed the full room; introducing themselves; talking about their role in the organization; and describing their agenda for the coming year. They also fielded questions from audience members about upcoming meetings and classes to be offered at the 2007 GCAC Conference.
The event also allowed attendees to preview the new GCAC online freelance directory. The brainchild of Web Site Chair Scottie Kersta-Wilson, the directory (free-of-charge for the first year) provides an online resource to potential clients and opportunity to freelance members to advertise their services.
