Summary of the President's primary responsibilities:

  • At the beginning of the term, the President should ensure that each board member is aware of his or her responsibilities and should make sure that the previous board member has transitioned all appropriate information and materials
  • The President should maintain an up-to-date contact list with information for all board members so that each board member knows how to get a hold of the others when necessary
  • The President should schedule board meetings throughout the year. In past years, the number of board meetings per year has varied from one or two meetings to four meetings; the frequency of meetings is at the discretion of the President.
  • Twice per year (in the late Winter and late Summer), the national organization will send an e mail with a request for chapter reports. These reports are used at the Board of Directors meetings in the Spring and Fall. The President should take note of the due date and should ensure that the chapter report is submitted by this date.

  • Attend board meetings and generate draft meeting minutes
  • Send draft minutes to the other board members for review
  • Incorporate any comments and forward final minutes to the web chair
  • Assist the President in the preparation of reports

  • Pay bills and other chapter expenses
  • Deposit checks (by mail) into checking account
  • Prepare annual financial report
  • Prepare budget for upcoming year

Summary of Education Chair Responsibilities

  • Determine courses to be offered, select workshop leaders, and set date
  • Communicate with national AMWA office regarding conference details (date, brochure, course handouts, and online registration form)
  • Communicate with workshop leaders about conference details, including schedule of courses, transmission of homework to travel, housing, and meals, room set up, confirmation of final class lists, preparation of course handouts, and honoraria
  • Arrange conference rooms, food, signage, access to site if required, and prepare payment as needed with the assistance of the treasurer

  • Plan 3 events (or more!) for the chapter
  • Select at least 1 location downtown and 1 northern suburban location for events
  • Plan year-end post-elections event with no fee if possible
  • Coordinate the events schedule with the freelance chair

  • Communicate with freelance members through regular meetings
  • Organize regular meetings to provide a networking forum as well a vital business presentations
  • Liaison with the Board of Director to affect chapter decision making
  • Present freelance needs to the chapter and AMWA national

Summary of the Public Relations Chair's primary responsibilities:

  • Providing communication assistance to the GCAC board members
  • Assisting other board members in communicating to the chapter by writing emails and event notices
  • Creating and writing announcements for all main chapter events
  • Working with the Education Chair to create the brochure for the Annual Chapter Conference

  • Set up online ballot for chapter officer elections at the end of each board term
  • Set up online registration for chapter/freelance events
